Scott McClellan
Scott with former Alabama head coach Bill Curry.
Alabama Storm Spotters was created by Scott McClellan in 2008. Scott has been active in storm spotting/chasing since the age of 16, in 1988. His fascination with weather began around age 5, and was heightened in 1983, after an F-3 tornado struck the city of Oxford, AL, about 6 miles from his home.
Scott can be heard on 'Priority Talk' with Greg Davis on WXJC 92.5 FM and 850 AM in Birmingham, AL, also available worldwide on the TuneIn radio app, during times of severe weather.
Over the years, Scott has witnessed some of the most intense weather Alabama and the SE United States, has had to offer. This includes over 100 tornadoes, landfalling hurricanes, blizzards...and even two earthquakes
Some of these events include (*marks active chase):
1983: F-3 tornado in Oxford, AL

1994: F-4 tornado in Piedmont, AL*
1997: F-2 tornado in Rainsville, AL*
1998: F-5 tornado in Birmingham, AL*

Scott lives just south of Birmingham, AL with his wife Cindy, and their two fuzzy children. Missy and Oscar the Fearless Dachshund. They are proud supporters of Jacksonville State University (his alma mater), and the University of Alabama-Huntsville (hers), along with University of Alabama ice hockey.
"Storm spotting and chasing, is a necessary thing. Some people abuse it by attempting to gain 'fame' from it. Bottom line...it should be used for warning the public, and educational purposes for the future. If you're using it to glamorize yourself, you're doing it wrong."
